Amazon.com Review

From happy hour margaritas to the next morning's o.j., this cute and clever Juicester citrus/reamer by Chef'n handles the job. Simply press any citrus fruit onto the top, and contoured large and small reamers efficiently cut then thoroughly extract the juice. The sides of the tool are see-through and clearly marked in cups, ounces, millimeters, tablespoons, and teaspoons for easy at-a-glance measuring. When it's time to serve, a double strainer catches both pulp and seeds. The juicer also features an ergonomic SavvyGrip(r) handle for comfort and a no-slip base. With its fun space-age shaping and asymmetric accents in a bright orange hue, this is a perfect tool for a mod entertainer or hip kitchen décor. It goes safely into the dishwasher on the top rack. --Kara Karll

"Great little juicer" 2010-05-19
By Ali S (San Francisco, CA USA)
Fantastic compact juicer - gets the job down. About the only complaint I have (aside from the sore wrist after juicing 10+ oranges! but that comes with any manual juicer) is that the juicer part needs to be cleaned out after every 3-5 oranges, but that's likely the case for any of these, I'd imagine.

"Awesome Citus Reamer!" 2010-05-09
By Jen
I used to squeeze lemons by hands - not anymore! I just received this cute little juicer two days ago and fell in love instantly! It is small so it won't take up a lot of cabinet space, but most importantly - it does a great job! I now realize how much juice I wasted by hand-squeezing in the past! This little tool got all the pulp out of the lemon and the double strainer caught all of the seeds! It was the perfect tool that I needed to assist with my homemade lemon sorbet. Get one - you will NOT be disappointed!

"chef'n juicester citrus/reamer, citrus" 2010-02-15
By Barbara J. Jorgenson (Glenwood, MN United States)
Gift for my son. He liked the size. It was small so you could just make a cup and not waste a bunch of juice you might not use with a larger one.

He would have rather it was a glass bottom instead of the plastic. I was disappointed that it was plastic.

"works perfect" 2010-02-10
By Vesela Morova
For the price, it is really worth buying it - I use it everyday - you do have to use quite a bit of force to squeeze everything out of the fruit, but that wakes me up in the morning. easy to wash too

"Inadequate for my needs (grapefruit)" 2009-12-08
By Adam
I recently moved into a house w/ a grapefruit tree in the backyard, so decided to get a citrus juicer. I shopped mainly by Amazon reviews, and considered both powered and manual models. I bought this model primarily because of all the glowing reviews on Amazon - quite frankly, after using this product I'm a bit surprised by the positive reviews.

Pros:

1) Simple, elegant design
2) Looks good
3) Small - doesn't take up much counter space
4) Reasonably cheap

Cons:

1) It's really too small for grapefruit. It comes with two size settings, but really the larger one is only big enough for an orange, and the smaller one is about lemon or lime sized. Don't get me wrong - CAN juice a grapefruit, it's just not the ideal size. The grapefruit kind of overwhelms it, and hangs off the sides.

2) The strainers for seeds and pulp were grossly inadequate. To be fair, my home grown grapefruits have quite a bit more seeds than the store bought variety, but the seed remover on this thing was overwhelmed and I kept ending up with seeds in my juice (not a huge problem). Similarly, the pulp remover was inadequate - it kept getting clogged up with pulp as I poured it out into a container. I kept having to take the top off to remove pulp, which was a pain and I couldn't get it all, and inevitably left some good juice behind after each grapefruit. I had to clean it out good after each half grapefruit.

3) Slow. I wanted to juice 4-5 grapefruit at a time, and it's a bit slow with this. I imagine this problem wouldn't be so bad with oranges as with grapefruit.

Conclusion: If you plan to juice a few oranges here and there, this will probably work ok for you. But if you want to juice grapefruit often, or if you have a citrus tree and want to juice in higher volumes than a few at a time, I think this model is a touch inadequate. 2 stars - I'd probably give it 3 if I only planned to juice oranges.

If anyone knows of a better option for grapefruit, please suggest in the comments to my review.

"Too much lost juice" 2010-08-18
By Wild Wild Wuest
The juicer does not extract enough juice from the pulp of the fruit before it ejects it. I put a hand full of grapes into the jucier and got 1/4 cup of juice. I squeezed the pulp it ejcted by using cheese cloth and got over a cup..More juice in the pulp than in the catch basin.

I will look for another jucer as soon as I can.

"Great Green Papaya Juicer" 2010-08-12
By SavvyConsumer (USA)
We have this juicer for 4 motnhs now. On average we juice about 20 lbs of green papayas per week to drink. We're very happy with this juicer. Cleanup definitely is a breeze. The pulps are very dry. As a test, I tried to squeeze additional juice from the pulps using a potatoe ricer but I wasn't able to obtain any.

"exelent juicer!" 2010-08-11
By leilei teo (Sunnyvale, CA USA)
this is an excellent juicer. I use it almost everyday now. the juice is tremendously enjoyable! I bought it according to consumer report's advice. they gave this top rating.

the only drawback is it takes a huge space. it's very big, and odd shaped (not round or square). cannot be put into any cabinet space, and takes a very prominent space on the counter top.

"JM503" 2010-07-27
By C. Lemley (Medford, Oregon USA)
I have used this juicer regularly since January 2010, and it has performed exceptionally well. It extracts more juice than other juicers that I have owned, and is easily cleaned. I really like the stainless steel construction and I have had no staining. Now for the down side--- you must feed the items very slowly or the juice will spill over the edge of the filter basket, and end up on the rubber pad and motor shaft extension underneath. Also, I attempted to order a replacement stinless steel filter basket with blade, and was told by customer service at the Juiceman site that they were NOT available! I shall use mine until the blade goes dull, then throw it out. At that time I will be looking for a good juicer that has parts available....

This is the best juicer!!! It's the most top rated by consumer reports and the least bad reviews that I searched for in the web. It's also the most long life juicer customers reviewed. Love everything about it. Thanks!

"Great Machine!" 2010-08-18
By shoonkah
I don't know about other citrus juicers because this is the first electric one I ever owned. I picked this one up new refurbished (yah-that's another story) for $12.95. I've read all the reviews about how bad this item is and I've seen the videos. After looking at the videos I saw the problem. These people have no idea what they're doing! Talk about a bunch of inept, brainless, "Mommy I can't do it" whiny idiots. This is a very simple machine, very uncomplicated. The reason I purchased this machine IS because of what I saw in the videos. For the price plus shipping you couldn't beat it with a stick. I love this thing! It beats the heck out of doing it the old fashion way... by hand. All you have to do is read the instructions, follow them and don't try to do something the machine wasn't designed to do... like juicing a watermelon. I just finished juicing 50 lbs. of lemons without a hitch. Sure the strainer had to be cleaned few times... its called pulp people. Some complain about the torque this thing has. Well, gee whiz, better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it. If it starts to move just hold the base. Oh and by-the-way, make sure the cord goes through the little notch in the back at the base and your kitchen counter is clean and dry. That way it won't move or hardly move if you really have to lean into it. Remember to take your time, let the machine do the work and you shouldn't have a problem. The reverse action is great! Some people complain about it because its unpredictable. "Mommy, MOMMY! It's to scary, I can't deal with it! SAVE ME!" Come on whiners, just be sure your hands and fruit are clean and dry when you use them, you shouldn't have a problem. Besides once you start using the machine you can pretty much figure out when and how you can make it reverse action. Other people don't like how small the spout is. IT'S A SPOUT! How big do you want the thing! Just make sure it's open and yes, some people tried juicing with the spout up! I used a 2 cup measuring cup to catch the juice with no problem. But let me tell you what I really like about this thing, it's the "washing machine spin". This citrus juicer will spin that strainer just like the spin cycle on the washing machine. You won't miss a drop! Others complain about too many parts to clean... all three on them. Come on, grow up and get a life! Sorry about the rant guys, I just get tired of those who critique an item just because they don't know how to use it correctly. Anyway, to sum everything up, I like this machine! Heck I may buy two more just because I can. If you look at the reviews, it's definitely not for everyone. Then again not everyone can walk, talk or chew bubble gum at the same time either.

"8 cup of juice and the fast spin already failed....." 2010-07-05
By N. Waters (Bay Area, CA)
I was in a hurry, and picked this up without reading the reviews. It is going back tomorrow, but I thought I'd at least add a pet peeve. I agree with the three biggest failings listed by the first few reviewers. At first, I decided I could "maybe" deal with it. But then, the one thing I did like about it - the fast spin out - stopped. The fast spin was helpful, and eked out an extra 10% of juice or so. And left the pulp in the basket less sloppy. With that gone, this thing is now going back! And I did NOT work it hard... just 64 oz of juice, and I did not press down hard, and let it rest between every cup!

Back to read the reviews for the other juicers...

"want one cheap?" 2010-06-22
By coyote (Pacific Palisades, California United States)
This is a great juicer to have if you have houseguests.
Although at first I was disappointed in my Juicer because when I used it first thing in the morning it did not wake up my guests, it turned out this was because my guests slept with ear plugs, and was not because the juicer wasn't loud enough to wake them.

The gadget really paid off, however, when the moochers decided to make themselves fresh orange juice.

The first thing that happened was that they splattered themselves with orange pulp as soon as they placed the orange on the juicer. Next, they discovered, as I did when I first used the juicer, that it would only hold the juice for half an orange, and so, when they went to squeeze the second half, not only did they splatter themselves a second time, but juice and pulp started coming over the brim. Then, when they flicked the spout down so that juice would start coming into the glass while they juiced , they discovered, as I had, that it's almost impossible to position the glass under the spout in such a way that juice goes into the intended glass and not on the counter.

Of course, the best part of all was when, feeling guilty about the huge mess they had made, the ingrates decided to try and clean up. When they attempted to wash the juicer, only to find that it's almost impossible to get the pulp out of the strainer, they threw up their hands in anger, packed their bags (with plenty of my best silver) and vamoosed for good.

They say that houseguests are like fish; after three days they stink.
This Juicer stunk right out of the box.
I've since replaced it with a much better one.
Citristar by tribest. It's quiet, it's efficient, the juice goes into the glass and it cleans easily.
great way to start the day.

"An Embarassment" 2010-06-14
By M. J. Crist (Seattle)
After struggling with this juicer - with all the symptoms others have commented on, I returned mine to a local dealer - THREE TIMES!! Each and every replacement was the same or worse. I felt so guilty for the store owner, that the fourth juicer simply went in the garbage. I wrote Cuisinart and they offered another replacement, but the rep said he knew of the problems but there was no fix in place. Makes you wonder about Cuisinart.

"This thing stinks!!!!" 2010-06-13
By J. Majka (Chicago, IL)
I just bought this yesterday. I went out and bought lemons, oranges, and limes today to try it out. The lemons juiced fine; without any problem. BUT, then I got to the oranges. The juicer would just stall out every time my husband or I exerted the slightest pressure onto this thing. I'm taking it back to the store tomorrow. I'm certainly not keeping it just to use it for juicing lemons, especially for $30. Cuisinart, didn't you fully test this thing out before throwing it out to the public?

"A good machine. does what it is expected." 2010-08-16
By Wiseguy 945 (Cedar Rapids, IA)
I have had this juicer for about a year now, and feel that it is worth it. Honestly, it is not that hard to clean up. It seems durable enough when used (average at least 2-3 times a week), and so far no problems. I have read some of the other reviews, and I guess I havn't experienced any problems yet. If you use it daily or more, I guess it may become a bit cumbersome to clean every time, and durability with some of the pieces may become a problem, in reference to the plastic screw the blade turns which broke for one of the other reviewers. At this point, this machine is fun for myself and the kids to use, chewing through carrots and apples easily. I would advise to peel oranges before juicing, although the machine says you can leave them whole, It makes a difference in the taste of the juice as well as the wear on the machine. So an average juicer like me, this make a cost efficent buy. More regular juicers might shop around more.

"Good Juicer" 2010-08-06
By Ms. delicious
This is my first juicer and overall I am satisfied. There is enough juice extracted that I am not upset about wasting money. I understood going into this that there is clean up involved. But the whole things usually only takes about 5-7 minutes. The reason why I purchased this was because it was reasonably priced and it has a lifetime gurantee on the motor. plus you can order replacement blade and all for 20.00 bucks on the jack lalanne website. I noticed that if i put like a few prigs of spinach insted of a full handful it will go straight to the pulp catcher. but other than that I am satisfied.

"Poor quality and not a good price" 2010-08-01
By elainelalanne
I purchased this juicer from the infomercial on t.v. I previously was using my sisters Breville Juice Fountain Elite (which i highly recommend). Jack Lalane's jucier came in the mail (shipping $25) and i used it twice. I juiced my carrots and the machine clogged up and the motor stopped (from literally 5 carrots!) The next time the apple skin clogged the machine and again it stopped. I returned it and am going to purchase a Breville. Just saying, not like the ease and flow as seen on t.v. If you do purchase, don't order it from the tv. as to avoid the shipping when you need to return it.

"Poor Customer Service" 2010-07-29
By Patricia Kopeloff
I was given this Power Juicer for Christmas. I used this everyday. The beginning of April, the motor burnt out. I only juiced what the book said I could juice. It was used daily, as I would expect a juicer should be used. We called the phone number with the warranty, since it has a lifetime warranty. They said they would send a new motor and we would be charge $20 for the shipping. 3 1/2 months later we received the motor for the Montel Healthmaster. We called to find out why and ask for the correct one to be sent. They first accused us of telling them we had the Healthmaster. Then said they would send the correct one for a charge of $20. After some arguing, they finally said they would send for free. I was happy with the juicer while it worked. But, if it only lasts 3 months, then wait 4 months for replacement, I am not really getting the benefit.

"Don't waste your money!!!!!!!!" 2010-07-10
By B. Meyers
I wish I had researched juicers before I blindly followed someone's advice to buy this. Why anyone would waste their money I don't know. Unless you like to spend your life cleaning products you buy and the other half going to the store to buy the things you need to mess it up again-save your money!!!!

Economical - Get the greatest amount of juice from the least amount of fruits. Peels and skins can be also used in various pastries, jams, soups, etc. Better Juice, Healthier Juice - Enjoy more antioxidants, better flavor and superior freshness of your juice. The juicer's two-speed electronic control offers low speed for juicing soft fruits and vegetables and high speed for more textured fruits and vegetables. For quick, easy clean up, all the juicer's parts are dishwasher safe except for the motor, and for added convenience, a disposable plastic bag can be used to line the large pulp container and then thrown away when finished. A 1-liter juice jug with a froth separator and a large-capacity, 2-1/2-liter, easy-to-clean, removable pulp container are included. This is a factory-reconditioned juicer which includes a 90-day manufacturer's warranty. Always make sure the Juice Fountain is properly and completely assembled before operating. As a safety mechanism, the unit will not turn “On” unless properly assembled. Always turn the Juice Fountain “On” to the low or high setting before adding any vegetables or fruits with the food pusher. The motor of the machine must be completely running to ensure proper and full use.
